2025 Summer Laborer (Multiple Counties)

What You Will Do:

  • Flag/traffic control for highway maintenance
  • Drive pickup truck to set out/pick up signs & follow mowing crew
  • Roadside litter pickup, clean &/or wash vehicles & equipment
  • Clean/hose down garage areas
  • Use weed eater to trim around buildings, fences, etc.
  • Help clean up roadsides when work crews are cutting brush/tree trimming
  • Answer phone &/or radio when clerk is unavailable

The Ohio Department of Transportation, District 1, is now accepting applications for Summer Laborers for the following counties\: Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, Defiance. These are seasonal temporary positions with an anticipated start date of May 5, 2025 end date of August 29, 2025. There are multiple positions, your application will be considered for all positions. 

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. In accordance with Section 124.11 (B)(2) of Revised Code, Director of Administrative Services has determined this classification to be unskilled labor class & therefore exempt from written examination. 

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

This position is overtime eligible based FLSA Standards.
